Like many mothers you might know or even be, I left my 12-year investment career, to stay home and raise my amazing daughter. Since then, Jeff and I now have 2 amazing daughters, who share February birthdays. Gia is 3 and Bianca is 1. As any parent can relate, my children are my everything, and my husband and I quickly learned that this whole parenting thing is very complicated. In an electronic world with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram…how were we going to teach our girls the power of saving and investing, aside from tossing change into a piggy bank?

Although buying a savings bond or stock for a child can potentially be a wonderful and great investment in their future, these are electronic transactions that produce no physical gift to your child…try explaining that to a little one on his or her birthday…!
